So here I am, in Canada. As I type I am sitting at a picnic table outside of our meeting house at Seven Springs Ranch where we are holding our five day cultural orientation. Sounds from dinner finishing float outisde through the open sliding doors as everyone is chatting and laughing enjoying the food.
I arrived in seattle earlier than expected and after grabbing some chinese food, changing shirts, and chatting with a guy named George who was raising money for orphans, I met up with James. A fellow SMI'er (summer missions institute) like myself, he took me to the truck where I met Dick, who drove me and two others (june and patrick) to the church where we would stay for the night. Seattle is beautiful by the way. The sun was shining the whole time we were there and the weather hovered at a near perfect 70 with a cool breeze blowing through. The mountains were breathtaking on the way in, like colorado, but green. lush green. Man, its gorgeous! A variety of evergreens and wild flowers create a dazzling display of various shades.
So there were about sixteen of us traveling through seattle and then on a bus to the ferry, and all of the people I'm with are great! Most are from California, all but a handful from maryland, me and Barrett (a fellow CIU'er) and Jaylin from Michigan. Ive gotten to know most of the others really well forming some great friendships.
So form the ferry we stopped for lunch at a mall and then went to the ranch. Some highlights so far: Sleeping in covered wagons :), Homecooked Food every night, Going to the beach surrounded by snow peaked mountains, bluegrass pickin with Jim Miller, apparently I look like wallace from wallace and gromit, and apparently my southern accent is very noticable :(. Canada is beautiful country. Possibly more beautiful than Colorado, and the weather is amazing, cool at night and warm during the day, horses roam freely around most of this ranch, my camera is amazing. Ive taken over three hundred pics so far! okay, more later!
